Guy and Eva

Last night I hosted a Guy and Eva jewelry party for a friend, Blair, who lives back down south. What a perfect way to get all the gals together for a cocktail and girl time (and, yes, to get some awesome hostess rewards while I'm at it).

It took me some time to decide on what my "drink of choice" would be for the get-to-gether, when I finally decided a white sangria would be a nice and summery choice. Now, I once made a white strawberry sangria when the hubbs and I made dinner for my mom and in-laws that about knocked me on my patoot after half a glass. I would never have admitted that to anyone at the time of course...I pride myself on being fairly composed in times of a buzz - or am I? Things to ponder.  Point being, I had half a glass and could feel "tomato face" (ode to my girls) kicking in, but no where near "getting Southern" (another ode to my girls). So I did some further reading behind sangria and realized I'm supposed to let the fruit ferment in it to sweeten it up a bit before serving. Not only did I let it ferment this time, I used a different recipe. A few hours before the ladies were to arrive I had a "sample sip" ... and ... I'm fairly sure I was buzzed after that. Me being a lightweight, I'm sure some of the other gals wouldn't have minded this... but I turned to my trusty Sprite and cut the bite a little. I'd hate for anyone to think I was "Slammering" (ode to my mother) them up to make them buy more stuff :)

The gist of the story is... we had a blast, bought some goodies, had some cocktails, laughed a bunch. A great time. I find these days that older I get, the more I'm content being in my home, with my husband, doing our routine things... and never seem to find enough opportunities to get all of the girls together. Don't get me wrong - we do our fair share of beach days, lunches, movies, game nights... but there's no excuse for not surrounding yourself as often as possible with the good company of people who you love, who love you, and who make smiles and laughter fill a room!

Ahhh... Sangria :)

All my favorites :)

What to get.... what to get... What NOT to get! ;)
